Six ideas for changes to be made in the gardens have been put to the Board and you are invited to make your views known on each of them in an online survey. They are, in no particular order:
- Create new paths across the lawns for all-weather walking. Improve
- Improve existing muddy paths for joggers.
- Reduce the height of the perimeter hedges so that residents, particularly those with ground floor flats, can see into the gardens from their windows.
- Remove the self-seeded trees, mainly nuisance sycamores, growing through the hedges.
- Reduce the frequency of mowing to create greater resilience in the lawns in times of drought (likely to be more frequent in coming years due to climate change).
- Extend the wildflower areas to further support biodiversity, an approach already being tentatively adopted by Jeremy.
Some of these proposals are bound to be controversial and the Board recognises that many residents are perfectly happy with everything the way it is, so this is the opportunity to make your views clear, even if you simply want to maintain the status quo.
